Frequently Asked Questions
Where is your Photography Studio?
My natural-light photography studio is located in Thame, Oxfordshire: 6 Lupton Road, Thame, OX9 3SE and open by appointment only.
It has private, off-road parking to make your arrival as stress-free as possible. There is room for a buggy in the hallway should you walk to my studio.
My photography studio is tucked right on the border of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, easily accessible from:
-
5–10 minutes: Long Crendon, Haddenham, Chinnor, Watlington, Little & Great Milton.
-
15–20 minutes: Princes Risborough, Bledlow Ridge & Aylesbury
-
25–30 minutes: Oxford, Marlow, Abingdon, Bicester, Wendover, Beaconsfield, Amersham, Chesham, Wallingford & High Wycombe.
-
40-50 minutes: Burford, Witney, Gerrards Cross & the Cotswolds.
Unfortunately my studio is upstairs and does not have lift access. Therefore is not wheelchair or mobility friendly.
How soon should I book my session?
To provide a premium, personalised experience, I limit the number of sessions I take each month. My diary typically fills up several months in advance. I recommend getting in touch around your 20-week scan to secure your spot. This allows me to remain flexible for early, on-time, or late arrivals. If your baby is already here, please do still reach out. I regularly move sessions around to accommodate new arrivals so please do still contact me - I would love to fit you in!
When do sessions take place?
Pregnancy: Ideally between 32–36 weeks (4–6 weeks before your due date).
Newborns: Best photographed within the first 1–3 weeks while they are sleepiest and naturally curled up. However, if your baby is older (due to hospital stays or a later booking), don't worry! Older babies may be more alert and awake, but we will still capture beautiful images.
How much do your sessions cost and what is included?
I believe in full transparency; you can find my starting prices on my Pricing Page and can request a full experience guide which tells you about everything I offer. An initial session fee is required to secure your date, This secures my time, care and your experience. Within three weeks of your session you'll then receive a private online gallery of your carefully hand edited images and choose the frames, albums or digital collections that suit your family and what you would like to achieve. This means there is no pressure to decide what you'd like before or during your session. Most parents choose a digital collection for safekeeping and then choose pieces of wall art to beautifully showcase their favourite images.
What if my baby is fussy? In a newborn session does my baby need to sleep?
Not at all. I work in a relaxed, baby-led and unhurried way. Sessions typically last anything from 1.5 - 3 hours. This means we can be fully guided by your baby. This leaves plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and cuddles. Some baby's arrive asleep and remain asleep throughout but most need some gentle encouragement. This is completely normal!
Do I need to choose what digitals, wall art and/or albums I'd like prior to my session?
No - simply enjoy the experience! Approximately three weeks after your session, you will receive a private online preview gallery to view your images from the comfort of home. You can then choose from my curated range of digital collections, heirloom albums, and bespoke wall art..
Do you offer in-home sessions?
I am often asked if I offer in-home photography sessions. To ensure the signature, consistent galleries my clients expect, I work exclusively from my light-filled Thame studio. While the idea of a home session can seem convenient, the reality of the first few weeks with a newborn is often a whirlwind. Here is why my clients find the studio experience far more rewarding:
1. The Mastery of Light
The "Natural and Timeless" look is not accidental; it requires very specific, soft, and consistent lighting conditions. By shooting in a controlled studio environment, I can guarantee that regardless of the British weather or the direction your windows face, your portraits will have that soft quality that defines my work.
2. The Gift of Ease (No Tidying Required)
The last thing a new parent needs is the pressure of "preparing the house" for a professional shoot. In those first few weeks, you are quite rightly muddling through. Choosing a studio session means you can leave the laundry, the clutter, and the "to-do" list behind. You simply show up, step into a calm, beautiful space, and let me take care of everything.
3. A Curated Environment
My studio is purpose-built for the comfort of new life, growing children and the needs of new mothers. From the temperature-controlled air to the proximity of my full client wardrobe and equipment, every element is designed to create a seamless, high-end experience that simply cannot be replicated on location. The result? You get to enjoy a morning of quiet connection in a calming space, and you leave with a beautiful cohesive and natural gallery that isn't dependent on the layout of your living room.
